Art Camp Update!

Please note that if your child is attending sessions one and two, they are welcome to stay for our "tea party style lunch." Please scroll down for complete information for the first two sessions.

If you are interested, please email me as soon as possible and I will "pencil" you in.

Get Ready for Art Camp '10!

Excitement is in the air!! Registration for Mrs. Mitrani's Art Camp is now open!

Only a few spots left for Session One and Session One/Two Combination!

We will have three sessions of art camp for girls this year.

Ages 7-9 in June (session 1 and session 2)
Ages 9-11 in July (session 3)

Session One (ages 7-9): $130 plus $20 art supply fee
June 14-18 .....9:00 am-noon
Refreshments Included
Projects Include:
All My Art Apron
Charm Bracelet and fabric corsage
A Year of Me Scrapbook

Paper Doll Parade and Tea-Party

Session Two (ages 7-9): $130 plus $20 art supply fee
June 14-18 ....1:00-4:00pm

Art Tote and Craft Tool Holder

My "Shhh" Secret Fabric Journal
Royal Crowns
Round Robin Friendship Book and Tea Party

Students may sign up for both sessions--Projects will be completely different.

Students signing up for both sessions may stay and enjoy a "tea-party" style lunch and short video from 12:00-1:00. $10 for the week.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to all of my little art friends and Moms!

I hope everyone is having a great school year, and is taking advantage of any extra time to create a few fun projects!

I've been so busy this year! I love teaching second grade. We are doing a lot of fun projects and try to put a little bit of art in each of them!

My artwork is also keeping me busy! I taught a wonderful corsage class (for adults) at the annual Paper Cowgirl event in Waxahachie, TX. I'm teaching another class this summer for Paper Cowgirl on Digital Art. My Halloween round robin book was published in the Fall/Winter Somerset Studio Magazine. I have a new round robin book featured in The Artistic Mother, by Shona Cole, out in Spring 2010. I attended a huge art convention this fall, and met many of my favorite artists all over the country. The Where Women Create company was there, and they put my photo on their website.

Please keep an eye out for information on Mrs. Mitrani's Art Camp for Girls 2010. I will be teaching 2-3 sessions this summer. We will continue artistic adventures with all new and exciting art projects!

We will be working with fabric, embroidery designs, paints, ink, glitter, picture transfers, artbook round robins and so much more.

Late Summer Craft Idea

I thought it would be fun to show you how to make a little "at-home" jewelry project before everyone goes back to Galatas in a few weeks.

School Spirit Beaded Bracelets

Materials:
Burgundy Colored Beads (glass, plastic, or wooden)
Gray Colored Beads (glass, plastic, or wooden)
Stretchy Beading String
White Plastic Alphabet Beads

Instructions:
Cut two pieces of stretchy string about 7 inches long (child size). Carefully string the burgundy beads and tie three knots at the end. Get ready to make another bracelet using the gray beads. This time, thread the white alphabet letters "G A L A T A S," first, and then thread the gray beads on the ends. Don't forget to knot the ends three times!

Happy Last Camp Day!!

We spent the entire camp day making darling tags. Each girl created 9 tags using their photo and their name. They then decorated the tags with stickers, foamies, art pens, punches, sequins, etc. We had an ATT (Altered Trading Tags) party and traded tags. Each girl ended up with a ring of each other's tags. I gave the girls my tag too.

It took time making each one of our tags very special. We all shared supplies and listened to KIDS! music.
We had a celebration with cookies and punch!

Glittery Flower Pens and Jourals

As soon as the glitter came out...everyone cheered! We transformed a plain pen into a glittery floral masterpiece. We even "scented" the flower with Texas Wildflower spray. We learned the term "wall papering," as we covered composition books with scrapbook paper of choice.

My favorite Texas Wildflowers... For intense artwork, a girl needs to be comfy!
Tomorrow is our very special ATT Party. ATT stands for Altered Trading Tags. We will work on 9 tags and then celebrate with cookies and lemonade.
