Tea Party Inchie Swap! Last Day of Fun!

How can it be? Art Camp 2011 is officially over? No way!!

We had a very exciting day today! Our morning session began bright and early with handmade heart pillows. We even made them smell like magnolia blossoms! We enjoyed sewing and stuffing them so much...we decided to make one into a headband. Why not?

Our Tea Party Luncheon was served promptly at noon. We enjoyed the pin wheel tea sandwiches and shoe string potatoes. The salad was yummy with the mint green dressing. Dessert was little tea cakes with chocolate drizzle.

Afternoon fun began with sketches of the latest bathing suits and beach attire. We also sketched a few purses and totes. We soon began making our little "Inchie Tins" with paint and papers. This tin was made to hold all the "Two-Inchies" we made for the big Tea Party Swap. Our party began around 3:00...trading and discussing who did which "Inchie." We put each creation in our little decorated tins. Pink Cupcakes and Pink Lemonade hit the spot!

Max brought out Miss Matilda for goodbyes. She really enjoyed meeting all of the artists.

I enjoyed having your precious little girls this week. I hope they came home with wonderful art discoveries. Thank you for letting my art camp be a part of your child's summer!

Artfully yours,
Mendy Mitrani

Thursday's Thrilling Art Day!

Our morning got started with new fashions on our sketch books. We then created new "Girls" using patterned paper. We covered new journals with the girls and gave them a personal touch. Lunch was fun...pizza and Coke Floats!

The afternoon session began with decorating boxes with patterned papers and ribbon. We used our photographs to make them really special! We then started decorating our tin boxes for tomorrow's project. We'll let those dry overnight before we finish with them.

Tomorrow will be our last art day together. We will have a very special day of friendship and round robin trading. We'll be making "2 inchies" and swapping them during our end of camp tea party. Cupcakes will be given out after the swap!

Flowers and Pretty Girls

OOH Boy! Flowers filled the morning for the first session. We created roses out of strips of pretty fabric. We made backs for them, and then created a necklace, hair clip, and a pin for our tote bags! We worked with water color pencils, then added water to make paint. We tried out some cool flower stencils to create flowers. Lunch was a huge hit. We tried new sauces on Asian style noodles. Ice cream with Swedish Fish hit the spot for dessert!

We started creating darling "girlie girls" with paints and pretty papers in the afternoon. We used stencils to make the parts of the girls, and put them together on a large canvas. We added a wire topper for hanging. We sketched a few more "evening desgins" in our sketch books before saying our goodbyes.

Second Day FUN FUN!

Our second camp day was full of paint, paper, and clay!

The morning session started off sketching new fashions in our new sketch book. We then made sweet birdies out of clay, let them dry, and then painted them bright colors. We worked carefully, and made small bird cages out of wire. The cages were precious with the birds inside! We had just a bit of time before lunch, so we decorated small crowns and made necklaces.

Our afternoon session started off with "Cowgirl Mona Lisa" puppets on a stick. We then started our huge "Birthday Cake" canvas project. We used paint, paper, Mod Podge, and outlined it all in black. A cute flower topper was attached as a final touch. They turned out just beautiful!! We ended our day sketching a ball gown in our sketch books. We also took a look at our camp website and saw a fun video Bella took from day one!

Thanks to our teens Emily and Grace for helping out! They love working with the girls!
