Fall Fashion Workshop 2015!

We had an amazing time this weekend, creating fluffy fleece scarves. The girls organized their fabrics, sewed on the machine, then cut all of the fluffy sections!

We also made some fun paper dolls, embellishing her with decorative papers of assorted textures.

Lastly, we covered tiny notebooks, then applied vinyl letters to the front. We jotted notes about our projects.

A tea party of hot chocolate, donuts, and "art talk" ended our time together.

Love these little artists!!

Summer Crafts!!

Hello sweet crafting girls. It's Mrs. Mitrani!

I really loved being with you all earlier this summer. We had the best time!! I know a lot of you are continuing with your fun projects. I'm so proud of you!

Many of you have emailed asking me about our free motion embroidery needlework. I'm thrilled that you are loving it as much as I do! You can find the muslin fabric, wooden hoops, large eye embroidery needles and a variety of embroidery thread (floss) at Joann's, Michaels, Walmart and Hobby Lobby. You can draw your image, stamp it, or get something online and print it straight on the fabric. If you want to try printing an image on fabric, use a glue stick and lightly glue the fabric on piece of card stock. This can be fed into a printer. Let the ink dry and peel off the fabric. Have fun!

I wanted to share a few more fun summer projects that you can try at home.  A while back we made awesome terrariums using waxy plants. We put dirt on the bottom of a large mason jar, and planted our plant. We placed small glittery rocks, shells, little buttons and pearls on top of the dirt. We even added a beautiful mermaid! Add a little water and close the lid. You can keep it outside in a special place. If you have some of these supplies, try this fun project!

Something else that you can have fun with this summer is using scrapbook paper, wrapping paper or any kind of printed fun paper to cover notebooks! We've covered many notebooks at art camp in the past. These tiny notebooks can be found at the grocery store for under $1. Use stickers to personalize it. Make lists or jot down thoughts! I always keep a small notebook and jot down art projects I want to try!!

I'd love to hear about your latest art projects! Feel free to email photos or come by my classroom at Galatas and show me what you've been working on!!

I will be having more art workshops this year. I hope to craft with you all once again!

Enjoy the rest of your summer!

Artfully yours,
Mrs. Mitrani (and Matilda Pearl)

Last Tween Art Day!

I loved being with my Tweens today!!
We worked hard finishing our embroidered pillows. We then sewed up some darling art aprons!

After aprons, we put together art 3 ring notebooks. We added darling fairies, fabric strips, and awesome decorative papers to make our notebooks one-of-kind creations.

Lastly, we made light and fluffy dreamsickle bath fizzies!

Thank you girls!!!

Tween Time!!

The first day of our fun Tween 2 day workshop was fantastic! We created fun model collages using paints, assorted letters, cupcake liners, decorative papers and more!

We then started our hoop free-style embroidery. We are all making our embroidery muslin into decorative pillows.

Lastly, we hand painted lovely tea cups and saucers. They came out just beautiful!

We can't wait until tomorrow!

Our Tea Party Art Day!

Today's art workshop was incredible!! We spent our last day together making darling party hats and fun charm bracelets!

We used tulle, charms, balloons, beads, feathers and of course GLITTER to make our fascinators look fabulous!

Our charms were made individually, using "Alice in Wonderland" stamps, inks, and shrink plastic. We set them on jump rings and added them on to a charm bracelet. Lovely!

Our time together ended with a cupcake tea party.

What an adventure!
